Principal Teachers are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and resilient Maths and Science Teacher to work within an Alternative Learning Provision (ALP) in the Northallerton area. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of young people who require a more tailored and supportive approach to education.

We’re seeking a teacher who is not only confident in delivering Maths and Science across Key Stages 3 and 4, but who can also build strong, positive relationships with pupils who may have experienced challenges in mainstream education.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Maths and Science lessons to small groups of students with additional needs.

  • Create a supportive, nurturing classroom environment that promotes learning, emotional regulation, and personal growth.

  • Work collaboratively with support staff and other professionals to implement individual learning plans and behaviour strategies.

  • Track student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.

  • Support pupils in developing confidence, self-esteem, and a positive attitude towards learning.


Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or relevant teaching experience in a secondary or alternative setting.

  • Strong subject knowledge in Maths and Science (KS3/KS4).

  • Experience working with students with SEMH, behavioural needs, or SEND is highly desirable.

  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management.

  • Enhanced DBS.
