Principal Teachers are currently recruiting for a Part-Time Chemistry Teacher to cover a maternity post in North Yorkshire. This is a 0.8 role (four days per week), starting in January 2026, with the successful candidate teaching Chemistry up to GCSE.

This position is initially for two terms (Spring and Summer 2026), with the possibility of extension into Autumn 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated teacher with a passion for science and a strong commitment to high-quality teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Chemistry up to GCSE in a supportive and engaging classroom environment.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in line with the school’s curriculum, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to support their academic growth.
  • Foster a passion for science, inspiring students to develop a love for Chemistry.
  • Contribute to the wider school community, including extracurricular activities related to science.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Science department to ensure consistency in teaching practices.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in teaching Chemistry up to GCSE.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
