Our Alternative Education Provision The Hub has experienced a huge growth in referrals in recent months. In response, we have extended our learning space and are delighted to be able to offer places to primary pupils. Primary and Secondary pupils are now taught in separate buildings, in purpose built learning areas by Specialist teachers, supported by Thrive practitioners.
Our unique setting is custom designed with the Thrive containment philosophy in mind. The personalised learning areas provide the pupils with a space where only they and their teacher spend their learning time. This method has proved to have an extraordinary effect on our pupils’ (Hubsters’) emotional stability. Students demonstrate a notable improvement when working within the containment of their personalised classroom, alongside their dedicated teacher (co-regulator). This serves to ensure that they feel safe, secure and valued.
Primary students work in individual learning spaces, one to one, with a qualified teacher and are supported by a full-time teaching assistant and two Thrive Practitioners. This allows us to focus on their individual needs and help them to achieve their targets.
Pupils can come to us for long placements, short respite sessions, or as a way of preventing permanent exclusion. We will work with them on a therapeutic level, ensuring that they achieve good educational attainment on par with their mainstream peers. When all parties feel it is appropriate, we will facilitate an integration into the elected setting.
